SkyWarn
Time!
It is that time of the year again.
Time to refresh your storm spotting skills. We will be
hosting a SkyWarn Spotter training on, Tuesday, February 28th.
This year's location will be in Waxahachie at the High School in
the Fine Arts Building
map. The session will be from 7-9:00pm.
If you are a spotter and need
to update your training requirement(1 class every 2 years) or if
you have always wanted to be be a spotter, this is the place.
Maybe you just want to know more about severe weather and what
all those folks with the the SkyWarn logo and antennas are doing
out whenever everyone else is taking cover, come find out.
The class is free to the public and we have folks from all ages
and all walks of life. Come early to register (free, of
course) and check out the displays.
During
the class we will also be holding a raffle for a weather
station. We are selling tickets for a chance to win a
La Crosse Wireless Professional Weather Center. The
tickets are $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00.

Happy 2012!
The holidays are behind us and hopefully
Santa brought some great new radio goodies. Maybe the
weather isn't the best to install a new antenna, it is a great
time to work on some indoor projects and to learn more about our
hobby.
With that in mind, we have some great topics for the next 3
meetings. You don't have to be a member to attend, we love
visitors. If you are a member and we haven't seen you for
a spell, it is a great time to come see us.
January: Jerry, KE5JC, will give a presentation on
dealing with stray RF and the use of torrids.
February: Annual Old timer's night. Our long term
members tell stories about the way it was.
March: John, AI6A, will present on Winlink2000, including
how to use Airmail and Winmore software. John will also
discuss using Winlink2000 for emergency communications.

Sable Island DXpedition
Randy Rowe, N0TG, visited our club meeting on August 18th, 2011.
Randy was there to talk about his experience as a team member on
a recent DXpedition to Sable Island. His presentation was
very informative and offered a great deal of insight into all
the work that goes on behind the scenes to make a DXpedition a
success. To learn more about Randy and his team
experiences, check out their
website.
