KA5TBK and KD5ZCP discuss "strategy" while in earshot of race officials.

Every type of contraption know to man was entered in this race. Pictured here is a 3-seater.

There were 1,158 riders in this charity bike ride. There were no trophies or prize money. Everyone rode for the enjoyment of raising over $25,000 for charity.

David WB5GUG held down his position at Rest Stop #1 with a keen eye.

Glenn KC5JQK relays critical information back to NCS from his position at Rest Stop #1.

4 of the 5 bike routes came through Rest Stop #1 making it a very busy rural road!

Michael N5TZR found a nice shade tree to operate under at his position at Rest Stop #2. Who's that in the background and what is he doing?

Oh, that's Jean-Claude KD5WPI. He was providing humanitarian aid for the 4-legged residents.

N5TZR's mobile mode of operation complete with call letter license plates.

Bill KD5PMB keeps NCS under control from his position at Rest Stop #3.

Several bike routes converged at Rest Stop #3 increasing the population of Dresden several fold.

Richard KD5NFW explains to KD5PMB that you never know what you might step in out here in the country.

Robert KD5YHY explains the many facets of amateur radio to one of the race participants while Donna KE5AZU looks on.

KD5YHY's impressive operating station he set up at the most distant rest stop. Without the additional height provided by the mast, communication would have been very difficult from this location. Nice plug for the club with the banner too!

KD5YHY with wife Cathy, Scary Gary KD5ZCP, and KE5AZU.

Rest station coordination vehicle. KD5ZCP saved the day by riding mobile with this race official during the entire event.

Meanwhile, back at NCS, Bob K5ASU explains the finer points of NCS operation to KA5TBK.

Dwayne KD5HWP and wife Marla KD5UIV (aka Maria) pose in front of their operation vehicle at rest stop #5. All supplies were routed out of this station so they stayed pretty busy.

KD5HWP and KD5UIV as the race winds down. At this point their shade had disappeared as well!

Tour d' Italia volunteer debriefing cookout. A huge thanks to KD5PMB and his wife Ruth for their hospitality in hosting this cookout at their home.

Tour d' Italia volunteer debriefing cookout. Everyone hunted for a little shade while they ate their burgers.

Tour d' Italia volunteer debriefing cookout. Finally the sun went down and everyone gathered next to the pool for the debriefing.
